My son was not much later than yours, and he’s 15 and bigger than I am now (you’d never know he was a preemie). Reply kaioken-doll November 18, 2017 Chin up buddy, my sister was born around 24 weeks, doctors said she’d never make it, but she did and she just bought her first house. Best of luck, there’s always hope. Reply tydyedsyko November 18, 2017 I posted this before but it applies here, preemies are a lot stronger than you think, here’s wishing your family a very bright future!! I can defiantly relate. My daughter was born at 24 weeks 3 days weighing 1 lb 9 oz. Her lungs collapsed the first night. She spent 5 months in the NICU but the hospital was only a 10 min drive from my house. She is now 3 years old. She has never and still doesn’t eat anything by mouth but I feed her through a g-tube connected to a mickey button implanted in her stomach every few hours. Besides that she is perfectly normal and the happiest toddler you’ll ever meet. She is the strongest person I’ve ever known and my inspiration through any tough times that may come. It always almost brings me to tears when she comes up to me and starts singing Green Day’s Brainstew =). I used to sing that to her when I had to wake up every three hours during the night to feed her. “I’m having trouble trying to sleep” dunuh … dunuh dunuh dunuh Reply circleofwomen November 18, 2017 My daughter was born at 32 weeks because I had preeeclampsia. The one thing that got me through our time in the NICU was seeing the photo wall of so many kids, of a variety of ages, that had been preemies. There is light at the end of the tunnel! My daughter is now 5 and bigger than all the girls in her kindergarten class. Levi will be home soon! Much love! Reply nykzhang November 18, 2017 Stay strong! My sister had her baby stay for 67 days in an incubator after she was born and it was not easy for them. Her daughter is now almost 1yo, strong and beautiful. Good luck! Reply klady November 18, 2017 I was born at 26 weeks, 3 lbs. 3 oz., in 1989 (lucky my mom had big babies, my full term siblings were each 9+ lbs). Was in the NICU for six weeks, and my parents didn’t get to hold me til I was two weeks old, at which point I could fit in the palm of my dad’s hand. My mom jokes that I’m her quarter-of-a-million-dollar baby (insurance covered most of the expenses but it really was that much, even back then). I’m now almost 28 years old, happy and completely healthy, married, and a teacher. There is so much hope. ❤️ Reply bionicfeetgrl November 18, 2017 So he’s started Jedi training earlier than most…. Down to the tiny heart monitor they put on the feet. I have it all saved and tucked away so I can show them when they get older. Mine were born at 27 weeks with Twin to Twin transfusion but are now 10 years old and besides the cocky attitudes, are damn healthy. Absolutely stunning, strong, tall, smart and just a beautiful soul. 5 years later my sister had another child born around 25 weeks. She is now 3 and what a fiery little fighter she is! Although the whole ordeal has been quite tough on the family, as it must be for yourselves aswell, I can tell you it gets better. The early days of just waiting and watching are always the hardest.
